A torn earlobe is the definition of a small problem left alone too long. Women wear clip-ons for years, avoid photographs from one side, and assume the repair means a hospital, an operation theatre and a week off.
It means none of those things. It is a day-care procedure under local anaesthesia, both ears in one sitting, sutures out at about a week and re-piercing at two to three months.
What it does need is care with the lower rim of the lobe. The torn edges have to be freshened so they can unite, and the lobe closed in layers so the outline does not notch as it heals. A repair that closes the slit but leaves a step at the edge is visible for good and harder to correct the second time.
We repair split, partially torn, elongated and deliberately stretched lobes, and treat keloids at old piercing sites. If you have a wedding or a function in mind, say so at the consultation so the timeline can be worked backwards. Send the form above, or call the clinic during working hours.
Every consultation here is with a qualified earlobe repair doctor in Chennai: MBBS with an MD in dermatology, registered with the Tamil Nadu Medical Council, a member of the Indian Association of Dermatologists, and consulting in Tamil, English and Hindi. You are examined by the doctor at every visit, not handed to a therapist after the first one.
